Emphasizes that people are unique beings and should be recognized and
treated as such by psychologists and psychiatrists. Humanists tend to
believe that the individual is responsible for his life and actions and
may at any time creatively change his attitudes or behavior through awareness
and will. This theory holds that many of our difficulties arise when there
are conditions placed upon our worth. Rogerians view the warm "unconditional
positive regard" of the therapist for the client as necessary and
sufficient to produce important changes. |
